About Disruptor Cup

Theme: Emergency preparedness, response and long-term recovery tools for NYC
The Disruptor Cup 2013 hackathon is comprised of two phases:
  • Phase 1: Teams can submit their projects online between March 4th and April 8th.
  • Phase 2: The teams behind the top projects will be invited to Disruptor Cup Demo Day where they will pitch and demo. A panel of judges will select the winning team, and award them with the 2013 Disruptor Cup.

  • Judging Criteria

    Scope (25%)

    Ability to clearly identify and address meaningful problems in the context of emergency preparedness, response and recovery. Solutions should be driven by community identified needs.

    Innovation (25%)

    Extent to which the solution solves the problem creatively. Those who take risks with original approaches will be rewarded.

    Design and Interface (25%)

    Clarity, accessibility, usability and intuitiveness.

    Community Impact (25%)

    The extent to which the solution improves NYC residents’ ability to prepare, respond to or recover from emergencies, building resilience within our communities.
